“He told me he wanted it to be special just in case it was my last first date.”
It was just under a year ago that Meredith first emailed me, and that line has always stuck out in my mind. Although photography was a high priority for Meredith, her groom-to-be wasn’t so fond of the idea. After their engagement session, his view completely changed and he was actually looking forward to their wedding photos!
The day before the wedding, Meredith’s maid of honor, Leslie, and her sister, Kim, surprised her with one of the thoughtful gifts imaginable. With the help of Meghan, a close friend, Meredith was presented with her something blue: It was a handkerchief with her mother’s handwriting on top and her father’s on the bottom. This was such a beautiful and thoughtful way to make Meredith feel like my parents were there with her, I can’t help tearing up myself!
As Meredith got ready the morning of the wedding at Sands Casino, we all agreed that we absolutely could not have asked for a more beautiful October day! As the girls finished prepping for the big day, emotion completely filled the room. Excited laughter, happy tears, inside jokes – and the best group of bridesmaids a girl could ask for!
Eager to say I Do, the almost-newlyweds set a bit of time aside before the ceremony for a private moment together. As she stepped towards JD, Meredith’s smile grew bigger and looked as though she may explode from excitement!
These two needed very little direction as I photographed – they really know how to work the camera!
Garden of Eden put together gorgeous red rose bouquets for Meredith and her girls!
Wanting the day’s focus to be a celebration with their loved ones, the ceremony was just about 10 minutes in length – including the processional and recessional of their large bridal party! Even though their vows were quick, it was incredibly important to be able to share this moment with loved ones.
As guests mingled during cocktail hour, I snuck away for a few minutes to photograph their reception room at Artsquest. Between Steelstacks ability to transform the room and DJ Jimbo’s uplighting and guest interaction, the team completely nailed Meredith and JD’s classic and elegant wedding day vision!
There was so much buzz about unique cake, skillfully designed by by Piece ‘A Cake
While most would have guessed that emotional part of the day was over, heartfelt toasts resulted in more tear-filled eyes.
“When it comes to the wedding itself one thing him and I completely agree on is that simple is key. We aren’t looking for anything over the top or crazy. We just want good food, open bar and for people to have FUN!”
Based on the smiles on guests’ faces all night, Meredith and JD definitely got their wish!
