Smartphones. Ipad. Tablet.

It seems that just about everyone has one in their pocket or purse…except me.

While people tease me for “still living in the 90’s”, I actually have a reason for not wanting to welcome myself into the 21st century of technology.

I can’t count the number of times I have been at a restaurant, surrounded by couples and families, each with their heads down towards their phones and typing away. Chris has checked his work email a few times while we were out shopping and I’m sure hundreds of others have checked their work email while on vacation.

Information has become so accessible to us, too accessible. At any point during the day, we are able to disconnect from real life and enter the web world. Vacations and getaways are interrupted with Facebook posts, date nights at your favorite restaurant overpowered by email notifications, even our sleep is suffering due to the constant connection technology brings us.

My phone can make phone calls and text – that’s it. No Facebook, email, internet. And I love it. Sure, flip phones may phase out eventually, but until then, I’m sticking with being a 90’s girl and being “behind the times”.

I refuse to be a slave to technology.
