3 Tips for Being in More Photos With Your Kids

Let me guess. Your camera roll is packed with photos of your kids, maybe a few of the dog, and about four that include you. And two of those are blurry. You are not alone.

So many parents tell me the same thing. They have hundreds of pictures of their children but barely any where they are in the frame too. It makes sense. You are usually the one holding the phone. You are making snacks, fixing bows, wiping noses, and just trying to keep things moving.

The thing is, your kids want to see you too. Years from now, they will flip through old photos and search for your face. Not just the memories you captured for them, but the ones you shared with them.

If it feels a little overwhelming, no worries. You can start small. Here are three easy ways to get in the photo more often and finally be part of the memories you are always helping create.

One: Let go of perfect
You do not need perfect hair, coordinated outfits, or a clean kitchen. That hug in the hallway or quiet moment on the couch is already enough. The most meaningful photos are the ones where love is obvious, even in the mess.

Two: Ask someone to take the photo
Pass your phone to a friend, your partner, or even your kid. Just ask. You deserve to be in the photo too. It does not have to be posed or planned. The goal is to be part of the memory instead of just capturing it for everyone else.

Three: Schedule a session that includes you
When you book a children’s photography session, make sure it is one that includes you. Even if you are just in a handful of frames, those are the ones your kids will treasure most. I always tell parents to be in at least a few because they matter too. You are part of the story.

If you are looking for a children’s photographer who encourages you to be seen right alongside your little ones, I would love to welcome you in. You do not need to wait for perfect. The time is now.
