“I think we want a large print, like an 8×10 or 11×14”.
About 20 years ago, these sizes did seem huge (remember those enormous clunky wooden frames?!), but much like aqua net, those frames have phased out. Now print sizes really depend on how you plan to display the photos in your home.
An easy way to visualize it:
Gift / Desk Prints
4×6, 5×7, 8×10
Hallway Prints
11×14, 16×20
Wall Prints
16×24 (when paired as a collage), 20×30 and larger
Determining which sizes to decorate your home with can get really confusing and quite frankly, pretty frustrating. While you could try to envision what your photos will look like displayed in different parts of your home, making guesses leaves far too much room for error…and disappointment.
When clients come to my studio, they’re able to see their photos on their OWN walls, giving them the ability to fully visualize what their prints will look like hung in their home! Many couples have said that had they not had this experience, they would have likely just ordered a few 11x14s and been bummed when they realized how small their photos look from the other side of the room.
The process is super easy, too!
The client sends in a quick snap of their wall, with a sheet of paper in the center:
Clients are then guided in selecting the best images sizes for their walls, being able to see a mock-up of numerous designs. The awesome part? It’s all to scale!
The final results, hung in the clients home!
This experience takes away the uncertainty and stress related to choosing correct print sizes and instead makes decorating your home with memories way more enjoyable!
