Should You Wear Multiple Outfits at Your Session

If you have ever stood in front of your child’s closet thinking, “This is cute… but so is that… what do I do?” you are not alone. Picking just one outfit can feel impossible. The good news? You do not have to.

You can absolutely bring more than one outfit to your session. In fact, I encourage it.

Why More Than One Outfit Can Be a Good Idea

There are plenty of reasons families love bringing options. Sometimes kids change their minds five minutes before photos start. Sometimes you want one look that really reflects their personality and another that feels a little more classic. And sometimes, you just want choices because narrowing it down at home feels overwhelming.

Having an extra outfit or two means offers flexibility. Instead of second guessing if you picked the “right” look, you show up knowing you have choices and I will help you figure out which one works best.

How I Help You Decide

Bring one or two favorites from home, and when you arrive at my Sinking Spring studio, I will walk through them with you. I will let you know which fabrics photograph best under the studio lights, which colors complement each other, and which outfits will give you the variety you want in your images.

The Studio Closet: Extra Options Waiting for You

And do not forget, my studio closet is always ready for a little shopping session. Over the years I have handpicked pieces that photograph beautifully and fit a wide range of ages and sizes.

If you are not loving anything from home, or if your child suddenly changes their mind, we have plenty of back-up options here!

What to Expect If You Bring Multiple Outfits

Changing clothes during a session is quick and simple. I always build in extra time if you are bringing more than one look so you never feel rushed. We can swap a jacket, add a layer, or change into something entirely different. The pace is flexible, and kids usually have fun with it once they realize it is not a big production.

Sessions are meant to feel relaxed and enjoyable, so if you decide to switch things up mid-session, it is no problem at all. If you prefer to keep it simple and stick with one outfit, that also works! What matters most is that your child feels comfortable and confident in whatever they are wearing.

The Most Important Thing to Remember

Your photo experience is not about perfection, it is about personality. Whether your child wears one favorite outfit or two, the goal is the same: capturing images that feel like them. My job is to take the stress out of those decisions, help you choose what photographs best, and make sure you leave with photos best showcases your child’s personality.
