After procrastinating for months, maybe even years, you’ve finally scheduled a portrait session. High five! Future you is going to be thrilled that you made this decision to document this time in your life!
Now that the photos are taken, it’s important to do something with them. Your memories deserve to be seen, not lost on a USB somewhere in the back of a desk drawer, or posted to Facebook and quickly forgotten about a month later, right? You’ll want these images visibly displayed in your home, serving as a reminder of this time in your life, and offering strength when you glance at your wall after a long day.
When it comes to displaying your favorite photos, there are certainly various options to choose from!
Standard Prints on Photographic Paper
Every household has at least a few of these hung on the walls. The downside to these are that to place them in a frame, it usually requires taping the print. After investing in your memories, the last thing you want to have to do is slap some Scotch tape to it! Loose prints can also be prone to damage, such as tears or warping.
To allow you to place your prints in your frames with ease and avoid potentially destroying it with tape or accidental tears, the K. Moss studio in Berks County provides an extra layer of protection for each and every standard print. All sizes 8×10 and larger are mounted on .08” styrene and 5×7 and smaller is carefully matted. These options provide superior protection to your printed memories.
There are dozens and dozens of options when it comes to framing, from modern, to heirloom, rustic, etc. Frames are such a personal choice, my studio decided not to offer this service. I am always more than happy to offer frame suggestions or help you find some that work best with your home’s décor.
Canvas and Metal Prints
Not only do canvas and metal prints add a touch of elegance to any room, but they also offer a durable and long-lasting way to showcase your cherished memories.
Canvas
Images are printed directly to canvas and wrapped around a stretcher bar, 1.5″ in depth. Canvases are available ready to hang, so no need to purchase additional hardware or mounting material.
Metal
Metal prints are a modern piece printed on a thin aluminum surface, bringing your image to life with enhanced color, clarity, and detail. Like canvases, these are constructed ready to hang.
With so many print, canvas, and metal sizes available, it can be difficult to determine which size is best for your home.
Choosing the right size for your image largely depends on where you plan to display it. A large print can make a bold statement in a spacious living room or bedroom, while a smaller canvas can add a sweet touch to a hallway or entryway. So, what is the best size for your memories? I’m all about visuals, so I created this for you!
Care
Each option above is archival-grade, meaning your memories will last 100 years or even more!
Regardless of which printed format suits you best, always keep in mind to never use chemicals, cleaners, or abrasive cloths to clean your photos. If you feel your images need a refresh, gentle cloth or soft brush (such as Swiffer) is all you need.

At the end of the day, your photos are meant to be lived with, not hidden away. Whether you choose a mounted print, a ready-to-hang canvas, or a striking metal piece, the most important thing is that your images have a place where you can see them every single day. Your walls should tell the story of your family and make you smile when you walk by. I’ll help you choose the pieces and sizes that fit your home best, so your memories don’t just exist as files but become artwork you can enjoy for generations.
