I can never get enough of the sitting stage. Babies sit there, wobbling just a bit, showing off a gummy smile while soaking in every little thing around them. Blink and the stage is over. That is why I always encourage parents to not skip the sitter session.
Between 6 and 12 months, babies are hitting milestone after milestone. This is when their little personalities finally take center stage, and it shines in every photo.
Curiosity is at its peak, this age is exploring the world in a new way. A silly face or a quick peek-a-boo sets off belly giggles so big they nearly topple over. Those big eyes, chubby cheeks, and scrunchy-nose smiles are the kind of details parents wish they could hold onto forever.
I know you swear you’ll never forget these anything about this time…but you will. The silly smile. The clapping for themselves. The serious concentration when they grab for their toes. These details slip away quicker than you expect. Photos from this stage are not just adorable, they are proof of who your baby was before crawling and walking took over.
The sitting stage is so short. Once your baby moves on to crawling and walking, everything feels different. That is why these photos so often end up being favorites. They freeze a stage that disappears in a blink. Years from now you will look back and remember the way your baby tilted their head when you said their name, or the proud little smile when they balanced tall on their own.
If there is one stage you do not want to skip, it is this one. Sitting babies bring curiosity, personality, and those heart melting expressions to the camera.. These are the photos you will come back to over and over again. They are not just portraits, they are little time capsules of a stage that vanishes way too quickly…
