Behind the Scenes: How I Protect Your Child’s Privacy

If you’ve ever noticed that I refer to kids as “this little dude” or “tiny miss”, instead of using their names, that’s not just me being playful. It’s intentional.

As a children’s photographer in Berks County, I take your child’s safety and privacy seriously. Sharing photos online can feel exciting when I want to show off those big smiles and silly faces, but I’m always thinking about how to keep the kids in those photos protected.

Here are a few ways I do that, every single time.

I never share identifying info

You’ll never see names, school names, clubs, locations, or anything personal in my captions. I might share that your little one rocked their session or tell a funny moment from the day, but I keep details private.

I use nicknames only

You’ve probably seen me write “this little guy totally nailed his session” or “this sweet one showed up with the best giggles.” That’s on purpose. I avoid using first names to help keep your child’s identity safe, especially on social media where posts can travel far.

Sharing teaser images carefully

At the end of a session, I let parents know that I’ll be sharing a few teaser images online over the coming days. These sneak peeks are chosen to show a bit of the fun from the day and give families confidence that the session was a success before waiting to see all of their photos in person. Most parents love seeing these teasers, knowing that I carefully select images and keep privacy and safety in mind. If anyone has concerns, I’m always happy to talk it through. I get so eager to share these photos because it adds to the experience and lets families relive a little of the session, becoming even more excited for their Photo Reveal.

Dream Dress Photographer

Keeping your kids safe goes far beyond what happens during the photo session. It shows up in the way I run my business, how I share your images, and the decisions I make behind the scenes. These may seem like small choices, but they add up to a bigger priority: making sure your kids are celebrated in a way that still feels safe. When you trust me to photograph your child, you’re trusting me with more than just a camera. You’re trusting me to be thoughtful about what gets shared and what doesn’t.

Your child’s safety will always matter more to me than writing a perfect caption.
